Our school lunches are provided by Bath Schools. Even when Bath is not in session and we are, Bath will typically provide us with a lunch, "Cook's Choice."

School Delays and Cancellations

Our school day is from 8:30-2:30. In the event of a weather delay or cancellation, we follow the same schedule as Bath Schools. A school lunch is not available on delay days.
Did you know? Calamity days have been reduced from 5 days to 3 days for the 2010-11 school year. You may see many of our districts making use of a 3 hour delay and/or extending their school day. However, because of numerous transportation issues that would evolve when serving up to 8 school districts, our policy at this time is not to extend beyond our 2:30 dismissal.

Welcome!

I am very excited about three new additions to our staff this year! I would like to welcome our new primary teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Cunningham. She comes to us with 7 years experience working with ED students in grades K-3 at Mac-A-Cheek. Another welcome to Mrs. Janet Adkins, a classroom aide in Ms. Cook's class who also comes with lots of experience-most recently from our Autism classroom next door. And last but not least, I am pleased to have a familiar face on board, Mr. Chris Fusillo, who has worked with our students and families through Family Resource Center. Chris Fusillo will be working full-time with our sudents in the ED and Alternative programs. We will no longer have to share him! -Mrs. T.

Program Description

The Allen County Educational Service Center hosts the ED Program providing services to its eight member school districts and serving students K-12. Class size is limited and students are supported by a team of highly skilled and licensed professionals including the classroom teacher and teaching assistant. A transition teacher is available to work with students one-on-one and/or small groups to address and teach skills needed in order to make a smooth transition back to the home school.

The purpose of the ED Program is to bring behavior to a level where it no longer inhibits learning. The program uses daily and weekly goals that are evaluated by the teacher and students at daily group sessions. An important aspect of the program is toward self-awareness and integrating the student into the peer group.

The academic program is similar to a typical school day. Because it is important that learning be successful, skills are presented in small, sequential steps using frequent feedback regarding the student's performance. A variety of skills are stressed in order to enable the students to function as contributing members of society.

Our classes provide the opportunity for students to develop and practice good work habits such as being on time, staying on task, and completing a job task appropriately. Students learn the importance of not only doing a job right the first time, but of doing the job consistently. Learning to accept constructive criticism, following directions and the importance of both individual and group performance are skills that are needed throughout the remainder of their lives, no matter what vocation they may choose.

Students in the ED Program are held to the same academic standards as their peers in a typical school or classroom. Each year students are mandated to participate in state and district-wide testing including the Ohio Graduation Tests given to students in grades 10-12.

We would like to extend a special welcome to all the students and parents involved in the ED Program. Our goal is to have a quality program that meets each child’s individual needs. With your support and ours, we will have a successful year. We encourage you to contact us anytime; as we will you, to discuss any concerns relating to your child’s needs.
